Welcome to the BEGINNERS MAT SERIES, a series of time efficient workouts that will sculpt long, lean muscles! These workouts have fewer reps than my other mat workouts and you change legs more frequently. They are the perfect introduction if you are new to Barlates workouts and will still give you amazing results.
THE WORKOUTS ARE:
Abs (29 mins): The exercises are oblique bends in a pretzel position, seated wood chops and crunches, some lying leg raises, crunches and leg raises with knees to the side, seated c-curve leg raises in diamond, c-curve pulses with alternating leg raises and a fun bicycle series to finish.
Inner Thighs (27 mins): There are inner raises from all different angles, a lying leg press, inner thigh sweep and diamond squeezes combination and a glute bridge series focusing on inner thigh engagement with various feet positions.
Outer Thighs (29 mins): There are side lying leg raises, knee pulls, diamond raises and leg arcs, kneeling raises and extensions and a side kneeling plank series to finish.
Upper (29 mins): You will see some ballet swan arm exercises, an l-shape push-up to side triceps push up series, a side plank series with lateral pulls, push up and back extensions combos, triceps dip to triceps extensions and some biceps push-ups to finish.
Glutes (28 mins):You will start with some thigh dancing and tucks, move to an all 4s combination of large range glute raises and pulses as well up and down glute raises, you will then repeat the series in a turned out position, you will finish with glute bridge exercises supporting with your hands and then lying on your back.
What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time.
