Welcome to the Total 20 series. These short and sharp workouts are designed to give work your entire body in just 20 minutes plus a warm up and stretch. You can use them individually when you are short on time, or string a few together for a longer challenge. There is a lot of variety with different equipment and lots of fun combinations. The workouts are easy to follow, but tough to do. They require very little space and guarantee results if you do them on a regular basis.
In Total 20 Weights you will use medium dumbbells with high reps and a faster pace to work the entire body. You will start off with some large range of motion squats and lunges as well as shoulder rotations to heat up the body. Then move to a side to side squat double arm then single arm and biceps curl combination, then move to a side lateral raise with glute raise combo and a hinged over side triceps exercise. Next, a side to side squat with inner thigh leg sweep holding the weight and doing oblique twists. Then a side lunge with overhead press and cross over kick and a leg extension and overhead triceps combination.Next down to the mat for a chest press and fly series combined with ab scissors. The final exercise is a plank renegade row with opposite leg raise and a plank hold to finish. Finally stretch everything out with lengthening stretches.
What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time.
