Welcome to the Tone Up Express Series, a series of 6 advanced workouts that are designed to lengthen and strengthen your entire body. These workouts use various combinations of mat and standing exercises to create long, defined muscles. There are lots of angle variations, balance challenges and compound exercises to engage both your mind and body. The workouts need minimal space and only a small amount of equipment.
In Tone Up Express Sculpt you will use a step bench and light hand weights to increase the intensity of some unique compound combinations. You will start with some body weight exercises such as squats with kicks and wide plie with arm rotations and pushes to heat up the entire body, then move to a curtsy lunge to kick side to side combo with arm rotations. Then stay on one side and do curtsy lunge with side leg raise and back rows. Next a kneeling glute raise to side leg raise to mini handstand combination using the step to elevate the upper body. Then a angled prone leg raise to side plank hip dip combo. Repeat all the combinations on the other side. Finally a low squat to leg sweep side to side, then a isolation hold knee and leg raise. Finish with a lengthening stretch.
What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time.
