Welcome to the Festive Fit 5 Day Challenge! 5 workouts in 5 days to whip you into shape over the festive season. These are circuit based workout with 3 circuits as well as a warm up and stretch. Each circuit will be performed with variations and using different equipment. You will see 5 segments per circuit - cardio, abs, arms, thigh and glutes. If you are short on time or a beginner, you could always just do one of the circuits. Modifications are shown throughout to bring the intensity level down.
In Day 4 you use body weight and light weights for circuit 1, a resistance loop for circuit 2 and a pilates ring for circuit 3. You will warm up with curtsy lunges and arm sweeps and side knee lifts, then move to the cardio segment, which is skaters and fast single side knee pulls. Next the abs segment, which is knee pulls with oblique twists, then a tough seated c-curve segment with leg raises and tucks. Next is a standing upper body segment with wood chops and biceps pulses, bent over back rows and shoulder press. Then a barre thigh series in turn out position, with knee push backs and pulses with various rep patterns. Finally a lying glute series with raises, out and ins and bend extends. Finish with a lengthening stretch.
What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time.
