Welcome to the Festive Fit 5 Day Challenge! 5 workouts in 5 days to whip you into shape over the festive season. These are circuit based workout with 3 circuits as well as a warm up and stretch. Each circuit will be performed with variations and using different equipment. You will see 5 segments per circuit - cardio, abs, arms, thigh and glutes. If you are short on time or a beginner, you could always just do one of the circuits. Modifications are shown throughout to bring the intensity level down.
In Day 3 you use body weight and a chair for circuit 1, a pilates ball for circuit 2 and hand weights for circuit 3. You will warm up with wide plie squats and arm sweeps, then a narrow squat skiier combination with knee raises, then move to the cardio segment, which is cross punches with knee pulls and front push kicks with arm pushes (this segment is skipped in the first round). Next the abs segment, which is oblique twists with hovering legs, then lying lower body twists and curls. Next is upper body with a down dog to plank, turn to side plank with arm reach to push up combination, then a triceps dip with arm reach back stretch combo. Then a barre glute series with bent leg push backs and raises as well as a sit back section with knee raises. Finally a tough all 4s series with hydrants, down do raises and pulses. Finish with a lengthening stretch.
What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time.
