Welcome to the Festive Fit 5 Day Challenge! 5 workouts in 5 days to whip you into shape over the festive season. These are circuit based workout with 3 circuits as well as a warm up and stretch. Each circuit will be performed with variations and using different equipment. You will see 5 segments per circuit - cardio, abs, arms, thigh and glutes. If you are short on time or a beginner, you could always just do one of the circuits. Modifications are shown throughout to bring the intensity level down.
In Day 1 you use body weight and light hand weights for circuit 1, a resistance loop for circuit 2 and a pilates ball for circuit 3. You will warm up with the cardio segment, which is mountain climbers, then move to some oblique twists, knee ins to lower body curl and some diamond to parallel lower body curls, then arms with diamond chest pushes, 90 degree biceps curls, narrow shoulder press and triceps extension. Next move to thighs with a tough thigh dancing segment that uses different rep patterns to really burn out the quads. Finally an all 4s glute segment with bent leg and straight leg raises, extensions and pulses.
What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time.
