Create a strong, tight core with this pilates fusion mat workout. Using the wall to lean against you will perform focused abdominal exercises that will strengthen your upper abs, lower abs as well as your upper thighs and hip flexors. The core is not just your 'six-pack' - it includes your entire trunk region even to the upper glutes and hips, so in order to improve posture and build a strong powerhouse you need to work it from all angles. These dance inspired exercises will help you to build definition and strength in a graceful balletic way.
Abs at the wall
Barre style abs sitting at the wall has always been a tough position for me, and wow Linda really delivers. Your abs will burn and beg for mercy! Sitting at the wall and stabilizing while performing a variety of leg raises will strengthen your core; at the 15 minute mark she moves to a crouched position (on your elbows) for more ab work at a larger range of motion, and has some twisting movements to really work the side obliques. Finishing with some c-curve work (if your abs can still hold you up!) then some great stretches for the entire core area. ~ Emily Bianco
What is Barlates Body Blitz: Barlates is a fusion style workout that borrows from pilates, barre, ballet, yoga and more traditional cardio and toning. The idea was to create a workout, which flows seamlessly from one move into the next using the principles of isotension and high repetitions to build long, lean muscles. By using a lighter weight with high repetitions the exercises are designed to target all of those underused smaller muscle groups resulting in a defined, lengthened dancer's physique. This is a real girls workout in the sense that it is fun and feminine, but don't get me wrong it is still super intense with a big burn factor! The workouts are designed to be mixed and matched with an array of 20-30 minute upper body, lower body, abdominal and total body workouts that can be strung together for a longer session or done individually if you are short on time.
