How to lose weight with calorie counting & workout DVDs

Nutrition is important, but one of the big keys to weight loss is calories in versus calories out!

Are you doing any exercise? Even 15 minutes a day will help you burn off some excess calories. It also helps your body create endorphins, which will keep you on track with your diet too cause you feel better about yourself.

I would try to buy a calorie counter, write a list of all the foods you usually eat, and work out their calorie values. Go online and find a calculator that will tell you what your weight loss calorie intake should be and then work out a menu plan that comes to that amount of calories. If you are smart with the majority of your food, choosing lower calorie, healthy options, then you can still have the odd treat here or there without going over your calorie intake for the day.

Portion sizes are a big key. A lot of people estimate their portion sizes and they can tend to keep creeping up and up. What started off as being a small hand full of nuts ends up being a brimming hand full. The difference in calories can be huge! So when you start you should weigh things properly until you are able to visually gauge the portion sizes.

Along with your new menu plan, consider some sort of exercise if you are not already doing some. I love doing workout dvds because it means i don't have to go out of the house. You can get some dvds which are quite short and you can also specify your fitness level. I enjoy doing workout dvds because it is like having a personal trainer in your home. I have a large variety that I alternate so that I don't get bored. I even started selling them online cause I wanted to share my obsession! Once you start with them and find an instructor that you like you will likely get hooked. I have been doing them for about 20 years.
